WordPress uses browser storage named wpEmojiSettingsSupports to cache a browser emoji-support test. This is session storage, not an HTTP cookie. It survives reloads during the page session and is normally cleared when the tab or window closes; internal checks may refresh it sooner.
A cookie named wssplashchk was observed during a staging visit that displayed a server-verification page. Its issuing component, purpose, configured lifetime and renewal rule have not been confirmed. We do not classify it as necessary or as an advertising cookie on the basis of its name. Please contact us if you need information about this item.
WordPress administrator sign-in may use wordpress_test_cookie to check cookie support, wordpress_sec_* and wordpress_logged_in_* for authentication, and wp-settings-* and wp-settings-time-* for preferences. Duration depends on the login state, Remember Me selection and configuration. Administrator plugins may also store preferences or security state when their features are used. These administrator functions are separate from reading public pages.
